We’re thrilled to share that Prime 1 Builders has been named a 2025 Regional Winner of the Chrysalis Award in the category of Detached Outbuilding for our custom-designed pool house project in Pittsburgh.
Presented annually since 1994, the Chrysalis Awards honor the finest remodeling projects in the nation and recognize excellence in design, craftsmanship, and creativity. Entries are judged on overall design, innovative use of materials, and how well the project enhances the existing home.

This marks our second Chrysalis Award. The first was in 2014 for a bathroom remodel. We’re honored to be recognized again for the outstanding work our team delivers.
A Backyard Oasis with Purpose and Style
The winning project began when the homeowners contacted us to build a pool house to complement their brand-new swimming pool. Working closely with the pool builder, we coordinated the construction timeline to minimize disruption and deliver a seamless outdoor experience.
Matching the exterior style of the main 4,500-square-foot residence was a must—both to meet HOA guidelines and to blend the new space with the existing home. From the upgraded electrical and plumbing systems to the polished concrete floors, we designed and built the pool house to be both beautiful and functional.
Inside, it includes:
- A full bathroom with a changing room
- A wet bar and storage room
- A vaulted-ceiling entertaining area—also known as the owner’s band room—featuring an aluminum-and-glass garage door that opens to the pool deck
This multi-functional space is equipped with stage lighting, ample outlets for musical equipment, radiant in-floor heating, and a ductless HVAC system. Outside, guests can enjoy the built-in grill, outdoor TV, and infrared ceiling heaters under the covered patio.
The result is a fully integrated pool house and entertainment space that transforms the homeowners’ backyard into an all-season destination.
